The Internet has become a tremendous source of information for actuaries.
The usual caveats about knowing the source of information and doing
reasonability checks apply, of course. The source I've used the most is
State Insurance Department Web sites. They can include:
Rate comparisons
Page 14 data, in the aggregate and by company
Industry experience reports
Updates on legislative developments
Information on recently-filed rate changes
Other sites monitor natural catastrophes, including recent seismic
activity
and hurricane tracking.
