Following the highly successful combination of the Faculty and Institute
of Actuaries General Insurance Convention and 29th ASTIN Colloquium in
Glasgow last year, the GIRO Committee would like to invite CAS members to
participate in this year ,s General Insurance Convention.

The Convention will be held from 13-16 October 1999 at the Grand Hotel in
the attractive south coast resort town of Brighton, England, which is
easily reached by road, rail or air. There are direct rail links from
London Gatwick Airport to Brighton station. As usual, the Convention will
run from lunchtime on the Wednesday until breakfast on the Saturday
morning. The programme will be a mixture of plenary and workshop
sessions. The convention fee will include the cost of three nights ,
accommodation, all meals, a reception at the Sea Life Centre and a set of
papers.

Anyone wishing to submit a paper to the Convention or to run a workshop is
welcome to do so. The topic should be one which is of interest to the UK

If you wish to join one of the Working Parties or submit a paper on the
topic of your choice, please inform David Golder (see below). The
deadline for receipt of texts to guarantee inclusion in the volume of
conference papers is 2 July 1999. We aim to finalise the workshop topics
by the same date, but would appreciate any details as soon as possible to
help us organise the conference programme.

The programme and registration form for the Convention will be available
in July 1999. In order to receive a copy, please let David Golder have
your contact details.
