I recently studied in great details more than 40 "insurance computer
systems" (those which include claim processing, accounting, stat reporting,
reserving, etc..).
The hand down champion among them was the one from the Gallagher Bassett
Services, Inc.
This state of the art, flexible, Y2K complaint system satisfies most of the
Regina Berens' requirements and much more (data integrity, QBE, performance,
customizable reports, etc..)
I would sincerely recommend you to either
a) buy their system from them
or
b) outsource your data processing to them (in this case you will have
online access to your data securely stored on their system)
or, at least,
c) don't start from scratch: before you greenlight your in-house
development study their system, model your in-house system after theirs and
implement the best features of their system in your own.
