Slowdown in settlement patterns and reserve adequacy

We are trying to review a book of business where we have noticed a slowdown
in settlement pattern and a decrease in average open reserves. We have
discussed with the claims department personel and they maintain that the
adequacy of case reserve has not changed. Would anyone have any suggestions
on how we could analyse the triangles to get a better picture of what
ultimates should be?
