J is a modern dialect of APL. It runs on several
platforms such as UNIX, LINUX (unix for PC's),
and the MAC. Of course there is also a version
for Windows (actually two: NT/95 and 3.1).
The core language is the same on all systems but
the Windows version is able to utilize all of the nice
features of Windows.
J is developed by Iverson Software (i.e. Ken Iverson
who originated APL) and more information can be found
I now use J running under Windows for any and all
Actuarial tasks that I perform. I recommend it highly!
