The position, located in downtown Toronto, reports directly to the VP and
Actuary. Responsibilities include:
-consolidation of premium and claims data to facilitate planning and
quarterly reserve analyzes
-assistance in the development of management, financial and actuarial
information models
-calculation of key financial ratios of competitors from public data
-assistance in the review of association rate programmes
-support for the allocation of catastrophe reinsurance premiums.
Candidates should have a university degree in actuarial science, mathematics,
statistics, economics or commerce, together with 1-3 years of work experience
and 2-4 exams. Data manipulation and modelling tools used include APL, SAS
(both on a mainframe) and Excel. The ideal candidate should have strong
analytical abilities, good problem solving skills, the ability to work well
under deadlines and pressure, and good communication skills.
