Seth,

I am responding to your question since I too have a degree in Mathematics. I
believe only experience and exposure to the various positions are the only
ways to find out which track you should pursue.

I am lucky enough to have been exposed to P/C work and have enjoyed it
immensely. My work, however, does not only involve purely my mathematical
background. I had to learn many actuarial and accounting concepts in order
to do my work.

I'm curious. Which exams have you decided to take before the final rules are
in effect? I am in the same boat and am planning to take SOA 100 and 110 as
well as CAS Part 5B. Are you currently working for an actuary?
