Here is my list . . . feel free to add yours!
1. The Clash - London Calling
2. The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street
3. Peter Gabriel - Peter Gabriel (the one with the melting face)
4. Bruce Springsteen - Tunnel of Love
5. The Beatles - Sgt. Peppers
Here are my reasons:
1. This is really good with a wide variety of music - reggae, jazz, rock. Best song: Rudie Can't Fail
2. Very good blues and rock. Best song: Rip This Joint
3. Interesting album. No cymbals on the whole album. Sort of foreshadows the whole \"world music\" thing in the 80s. Best song: And Through the Wire
4. Corny the first time you listen, but it gets better and better. Best song: Walk Like a Man
5. This is an obvious choice for the influence it had on everything else. Best song: Lovely Rita Meter Maid

1. Guns n Roses - Appetite for Destruction
2. Kiss - Alive II
3. Metallica - Metallica
4. Nirvana - Nevermind
5. Weezer - Weezer
Why?
1. Every song is great. You can put it in early in the morning and hit repeat and let it play all day long. \"Mr. Brownstone\" is the best song.
2. Greatest band of all time. Greatest live album of all time. Greatest band in concert of all time.
3. If you've heard this, you know why it's here.
4. Good songs, but the real reason it makes the list is because this album opened the door for a lot of great music.
5. It's sad, but I still listen to this one almost daily. I like every song.
If greatest hits albums are allowed, then I replace Weezer with Billy Joel - Greatest Hits Vols 1 and 2.

King - Live at the Cook County Jail
What better place to play the blues?
Dvorak Symphony #9
Not sure why? 1) Louis Prima & Keely Smith, \"The Wildest Show at Tahoe\"
2) Slim Gaillard, \"The Best of Laughin in Rhythm\"
3) Jefferson Airplane, \"Bless it's Pointed Little Head\"
4) Traffic, \"Traffic\"
5) Ten Years After, \"A Space in Time\"
6) Frank Zappa, \"We're Only in it for the Money\"
7) Zephyr, \"Sunset Ride\"
These are desert island minimums.
1) Almost any of the \"Wildest\" series, but this is the first one I heard and the only swing version of \"Robin Hood.\" Yes, it's live.
2) A best of, but thats the only way to get the breadth of his work, includes \"The Arabian Boogie\" and \"Yip Roc Heresy.\"
3) Another live album. The licks and vocals blend quite nicely. Album never quits. I listen to it every day.
4) Any Traffic would do except for maybe \"Last Exit\". Original version of \"Feelin' Alright\" is a haunting hate your guts, no maybe not, ex-love ballad.
5) I suppose \"Cricklewood Green\" is the choice of diehard TYA fans, but \"A Space...\" is the one that hooked me.
6) No one should be too serious, and Zappa was serious about that. Early, uncut version is mandatory \"...I don't do publicity balling for you anymore...\" should be audible.
7) After the departure of Tommy Bolin, group took a bluelectrofolkcountry kind of sound and lasted one marvelous album with it. Drugs, death and music machine politics kept this group from becoming... Don't look for the CD.

Lee, if you have streaming capability at home, you might tune into Danny Stiles on WNYC on Saturday 8-10 p.m. EST. He plays Louis Prima, Slim&Slam, Sophie Tucker, all kinds of more obscure oldies. He has a huge record collection, and a big following here in the Tri-Color area.

Top Five
1. Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
2. Guns 'n Roses - Appetite for Destruction
3. Aerosmith - Get Your Wings
4. Metallica - Metallica (the Black Album)
5. Rolling Stones - Let it Bleed
Comments.
1. Most nuanced and moving work by Jimmy Page - far and away the greatest musician Rock music has known. Faves include The Rover, Ten Years Gone, In the Light, Trampled Under Foot, Houses of the Holy.
2. I agree with The General. Every song on this album is just totally killer.
3. Their second album, from 1974, with Same Old Song and Dance the most well known tune. Although Aerosmith has descended into a sappy pop song Hell, their shows in the late '70s still rank among the hardest I've seen.
4. Enter Sandman must be the best Heavy Metal pop song ever!
5. Insert your favorite Stones album here.
Other Great Albums
Led Zeppelin - Anything, with the possible exception of In Through the Out Door.
Aerosmith - Anything from the '70s
Pink Floyd - Dark Side, Animals
AC\\DC - Back in Black
The Who - Quadrophenia, Who's Next
Metallica - ...And Justice for All
Ozzie Osbourne - Diary of a Madman, Ozman Cometh, No More Tears
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
David Bowie - Young Americans, Aladdin Sane
Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland
Jefferson Airplane - Bless its Pointed Little Head (Earlier post reminded me how I, too, used to play this album every day)

Hi Troy_McClure, if you make those comments perpetually, then you'll soon become very annoying! Wow! [img:7e6201b04e]http://207.226.187.164/students/forums/noncgi/wink.gif[/img:7e6201b04e]
No, really. Cute, but please don't drown us with those starting comments.
Troy, I would agree with you on the Counting Crows CD if my stepbrother hadn't played it to death when he first bought it. That can really spoil music for someone.

Too many to list for a top five, but here's what I've been listening to lately:
1. Talking Heads - Remain in Light
2. Garbage - version 2.o
3. Dave Brubeck - Buried Treasure recorded live in New Mexico
4. Joan Armatrading - (her first album)
5. Peter Gabriel - Security
I know #3 is a jazz pick, but I listen to all kinds of music. Now I'll just hope over to the classical thread.

Hey Braniac's Daughter!
A fine collection of XTC albums, no doubt about it, but you left off the Live at the BBC album, which shows what an exciting live band they were before Andy freaked.
