Seminar Objective

This year the Casualty Actuarial Society presents the inaugural Risk and Capital Management Seminar (RCMS). Formerly known as the Seminar on Dynamic Financial Analysis (DFA), the purpose of this updated seminar is to enhance the actuary's involvement in making critical corporate decisions regarding risk and capital, be they for an insurance company or another corporate entity. The seminar also serves as a forum for continuing the development of DFA skills. As with the 2001 DFA Seminar, the CAS Limited Attendance Seminar on Dynamic Financial Analysis is being offered at the same location as the RCMS. This allows attendees a convenient forum to choose from a variety of subjects and presentation styles that will most appropriately meet their educational needs.

The 2002 seminar will broaden its focus to include topics regarding enterprise risk management and capital management. Specific sessions will include asset management, duration matching strategies for assets and liabilities, capital allocation, human resource risk, and several sessions covering the 2002 Call for Discussion Papers on "Dynamic Financial Analysis, Integrated Approaches for Financial Institutions."

Target Audience

The seminar is intended for actuaries and other professionals interested in the various disciplines surrounding the risk and capital management arena. The seminar will also benefit corporate risk managers, asset managers, academics, and other professionals interested in learning more about risk and capital management, DFA, and emerging research from the Casualty Actuarial Society.
