Seminar Objective
The 2003 Seminar on Ratemaking is a forum for presenting and discussing ratemaking methods, concepts, and issues. Sessions are available for insurance professionals with ratemaking knowledge levels varying from limited to advanced. This seminar is an opportunity for actuaries to further their continuing education.
Who Should Attend
In addition to actuaries, any insurance industry professionals who need to understand pricing issues should consider attending the Ratemaking Seminar, including product managers, underwriters, agents, and regulators. CPCU members attending this program will be
awarded 10 points under the Continuing Professional Development program for
CPCUs.
Seminar Format
Thursday will begin with a general session followed by four sets of concurrent sessions that are organized
in broad subject matter categories and offers over 50 different sessions. The categories are: introductory
topics, emerging technology, workers compensation, commercial lines, personal lines, risk and capital
management, regulatory, reinsurance, and specialty topics. To encourage audience participation, time will be provided at the end
of each session for questions. Three concurrent sessions will be held on Friday. Lunch will be provided on
Thursday only.
The general session on Thursday will feature a panel discussion on mold, one of the hottest topics in
the insurance industry, and opening remarks from CAS President Gail Ross.
