This online course is delivered via the Internet and taught asynchronously to allow participants to fit the work into their individual schedules. The course consists of the following:
- Six Lectures (PowerPoint slides with audio voice-overs)
- Introduction to Securitization: Overview, Concepts, and Issues
- Financial (Non-Insurance) Securitization
- Insurance Securitization: Evolution and Derivative Products
- Insurance Securitization: Catastrophe Bonds
- Insurance Securitization: Catastrophe Equity Puts and Other Techniques
- The Future of Insurance Securitization
- Selected Readings
- Periodic Problems and Questions (facilitated by the Online Course Discussion Forum)
- Final exam
Prior participation in other online courses will be helpful, but not essential for this course. This course will assume that participants have a general knowledge of the basics of finance, as covered in Part 5B (pre Y2K syllabus) or Part 2 (more recently) of the CAS exams or at the Limited Attendance Finance Seminars.
