Continuing Education Credit for Seminar Attendees

Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCUs) attending this year's program will be awarded 12 points under the Continuing Professional Development Program for CPCUs. Members of the Alliance of American Insurers (AAI) who attend this program will receive 12 credit hours toward their re-accreditation under the Accredited Advisor in Insurance program. Members of the Society of Financial Examiners (SOFE) will receive one hour of CRE credit for every hour of attendance. Forms will be available at the seminar for attendees to complete to receive credit.

Confirmations

Confirmation letters will be sent to those who pre-register for the meeting. Attendance for the Basic Concepts and Methods sessions are limited. Pre-registration is required and will be received on a first-come, first-served basis only. If you register for a limited attendance session and it is filled, the CAS Office will notify you. Please list your telephone number on the registration form.

Cancellations

The registration fee will be refunded for a cancellation received by September 11, 1998, less a $50 processing fee. Only written cancellations will be honored. Faxed cancellation requests will be accepted at (703) 276-3108.

Attire

Business casual attire is suggested for all meeting sessions, as well as the receptions on Sunday and Monday evenings.

Registration Fees

The registration fee is $525 ($785 Canadian) for members and students of the sponsoring organizations and $625 ($934 Canadian) for non-members if received on or before September 8. If received after September 8, the fee is $575 ($859 Canadian) for private/students and $675 ($1,008 Canadian) for non-members. Government actuaries receive a 30% discount off the applicable registration fee.

Registration fees include seminar materials, two continental breakfasts, three refreshment breaks, two luncheons, and two receptions.

Registration Hours

The registration desk will be open as follows:

Sunday, September 274:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Monday, September 287:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, September 297:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Hotel Reservations

September 4, 1998, is the cut-off date for making hotel reservations. Reservations will be accepted at the Philadelphia Marriott by telephoning (215) 625-2900 or by using the hotel reservation card included in this booklet. Rates are $163 plus taxes, for a single and $179 plus taxes, for a double room. Be sure to identify yourself as a participant in the Casualty Loss Reserve Seminar when making reservations by telephone to receive the negotiated group rate.

The hotel requires one night's deposit by credit card, check, or money order to hold all reservations. Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. Check-out time is 12:00 noon.

Airfare Discounts

Delta Air Lines is the designated carrier for the Casualty Loss Reserve Seminar. Delta is offering discounted airfares to all seminar attendees. To take advantage of these reduced fares, please call (800) 241-6760 and refer to File Number 110143A

Hotel/Airport Transportation

The Marriott is approximately 8 miles from Philadelphia International Airport. USA Limousine is a low-cost shuttle providing service from the airport to the hotel starting at 6:00 a.m. daily. There are courtesy telephones located in the baggage claim area of the airport. USA Limousine may be reached at #14 on the courtesy telephones when you are ready to depart. The cost of a one-way trip is $8 per person. Reservations are not required. For additional information you may call USA Limousine directly at 1-800-872-6070.

Handouts of Seminar Sessions

The 1998 CLRS handouts will be available on the CAS Web Site no later than November 2. If you do not have Internet access you may obtain copies by calling the CAS Office at (703) 276-3100 after November 2.
