2010 CAS Election Preferential Ballot and Petition Form for Board of Directors

Fellows of the CAS have two options for providing input to the development of the ballot for the 2010 CAS election of Board members and the President-Elect:

  • Submit the Preferential Ballot to suggest candidates to the Nominating Committee.
  • Submit a Petition, signed by a specified number of Fellows, to have a Fellow placed directly on the ballot.

These two options are explained in further detail below.

  1. Preferential Ballot
The Nominating Committee is now inviting Fellows of the CAS to complete the 2010 Preferential Ballot and recommend candidates for leadership positions within the CAS. The Preferential Ballot:
    • Aids the Nominating Committee in preparing the 2010 slate of candidates for President-Elect and Directors. Fellows will vote on the slate of candidates later in 2010.
    • Provides input to the Nominating Committee as the Committee considers candidates for the seven Vice President positions on the Executive Council. Vice Presidents are recommended to, and then elected by, the Board of Directors.
The Nominating Committee welcomes your recommendations for candidates for the positions of President-Elect, Vice Presidents, and Directors, and will give consideration to all names submitted.

To assist you in making recommendations, the following information is provided:

The deadline for the submission of the preferential ballot is February 26, 2010. There are two options for submitting the Preferential Ballot:

  2. Petition for Board of Directors
In addition to the Preferential Ballot process, Fellows may also be placed on the slate of candidates for election by the submission of a Petition signed by a specified number of Fellows. In 2010 the petition process for Directors will be conducted separately from the petition process for President-Elect. The Nominating Committee is inviting submissions of Petitions for Directors through February 26 and will invite Petitions for President-Elect after it announces its candidate for President-Elect in April.

The petition form for the Board of Directors to be placed on the 2010 CAS election ballot is now available. Any petition (or group of petitions) that nominates a candidate for the Board of Directors and is signed by 35 Fellows (or more, representing 1% of the Fellows) will result in that candidate being contacted by the Nominating Committee. Upon confirmation by the Nominating Committee of the candidate’s desire to run for office, the candidate will be included by the Nominating Committee on the 2010 CAS election ballot.

The deadline for the submission of the petition form for Directors is February 26, 2010.
